Description

Transition to school is one of the most important steps in a young child’s life. Children must learn to navigate academic, behavioral and social expectations that might be different from the expectations at home or in the early learning setting. Well planned, collaborative transition models build trust and relationships among children, families, teachers and the school community. Systematic strategies and common understanding of terms and approaches among stakeholders can increase the success of transition practices. One way Pennsylvania is helping to support local education agencies and early learning programs with effective transition strategies is with the Kindergarten Transition Toolkit. This toolkit was developed to support local school districts and early learning programs as they develop and enhance transition strategies within their local communities. The Pennsylvania Kindergarten Transition Toolkit has been developed in an effort to strengthen connections among children, families, early learning programs, and school districts in all communities across the Commonwealth. Learn more about how this toolkit can help in your setting by taking this course!
